LOOPS IN MOTION

Welcome to the World of “Loops in Motion”. This is a tale of how an average guy like myself is attempting to use the web to it’s fullest potential without incurring much cost to make money. First i like to tell you that i have worked in music for the majority of my life. I am a musician, Dj and web designer. I know web designer what does that have to do with loops in motion. Well it has a lot to do if you didn’t really read this. Since I do web design I don’t have to hire someone to create a site for my loops for apple’s soundtrack pro program. I can do this myself with out extra cost.

Each week I would like to set up a discussion based on the loops, programs that uses loops and instruments that you use to create loops. I will not focus solely on Apple’s soundtrack pro or apple’s garageband, but will focus on all the loop based programs such as Sony’s Acid, or Cubase, Logic Pro, Fruity loops, Pro Audio and Reason.

This week’s discussion is however based on Apple’s Soundtrack and how it compares with Sony’s Acid (by the way did you know the same person created both program s a fella by the name of Chris Mulious)

  1. Basically both programs are very similar. However with Apple’s use of the .aif extension for their music files it allows you to add more metadata to your music content. Such as what instrument the sound file holds. is it processed or distorted. What genre is it in? Is it a one shot or a loop. Apple’s Soundtrack pro and garageband uses this information so you can categorized your music loop library more efficiently and locate the sound and samples your are needing to use for your music project or movie’s soundtrack score.
